New check in procedures for Disney Cruise Line guests

Disney Cruise Line has recently updated their procedures both for online check in and check in at the cruise terminal. Both sets of changes should make it both easier and faster for guests to get checked in for their cruise vacations.

Guests will be able to complete online check in information prior to their cruise.  A series of characters in portholes will guide guests through the process of online check in.

Among the information that can be entered online is address and citizenship information for all passengers, arrangements for your onboard account, information about how and when you will arrive to and depart from the port. Guests will also be able to review, print and sign their cruise contract. The cruise contract must be signed and presented at check in (don’t worry if you forgot to print it out, copies will be readily available at check in).

For guests who will be arriving at the cruise terminal by some means other than via Disney Cruise Line transfers, there will be an opportunity to select your port arrival time. This is in an effort to improve the flow of arriving Guests at each departure port and minimize check-in wait times at the cruise terminal. Guests who purchase air and/or transfers from Disney Cruise Line will not need to select a port arrival time. For guests arriving by air but arranging for their own transportation to the port, only times appropriate for their flight arrival time will be offered when selecting a port arrival time.

The schedule for online check in will be as follows:

  • Guests staying on the concierge level and Platinum Castaway Club members can check in 120 days before their cruise departure date.
  • Gold Castaway Club Members may check in 105 days prior to their cruise.
  • Silver Castaway Club Members may check in 90 days prior to their cruise
  • First time cruisers may check in 75 days prior to their sailing.

You can always return to your online check in to make changes prior to your cruise departure.

Don’t forget that even though you may have entered your passport number during online check in, you MUST present your passport (or other citizenship documentation) upon arrival at the port. To check most current citizenship document requirements for a cruise vacation, visit the US State Department web site to review the requirements of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

It’s so easy, even Goofy can do it!
