Holiday Magic at Walt Disney World

Today’s article is a guest post from Magical Memories Travel vacation specialist Debbie Edwards.
Disney World Christmas Decorations
It’s a wonderful time of the year – especially during the Christmas Holiday Season.  Having been to DisneyWorld too many times to count at this time of the year, I can tell you first hand that no one does Christmas like Disney does Christmas.

Cinderella Castle Christmas Lights
Where else can you find a castle that is covered with 200,000 ice cycle white lights? Or a spectacle of 5 million lights that dance to holiday music every 10 minutes or so? Or a holiday party where one can sip hot chocolate, watch live Christmas shows, listen to carolers and entertained by a fireworks show that is orchestrated to holiday music? And, don’t forget an inspiration reading of the Christmas story by celebrity narrators who are accompanied by a 50-piece orchestration and a bigger than life choir. Only at Disney can one find over the top holiday celebrations at every turn.

Every time we return someone typically asks the question, “Don’t you get tired of going?”  My answer is always a firm, “No way!”  How can one tire of a place where magic surrounds you? Where for a brief moment in time one gets lost in the miracle of the season.  Where memories of Christmas of ole’ can be relived while watching eyes of young and old, alike, light up as Santa’s sleigh is seen coming down Main Street preceded by dancing gingerbread characters, marching soldiers and of course Santa’s reindeer.
Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights

For our family Disney at Christmas has become a tradition.  Not one done every year, but when given the opportunity, the destination of choice during the holiday season.  Whether it is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom, the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at MGM or the amazing holiday decorations at each of the Disney Hotels (Where else can you find a life-size gingerbread house baked with 1050 pounds of honey, 600 pounds of sugar and 35 pounds of spices?) … the magic of the seasons is alive and well at DisneyWorld.
No one does the Christmas holiday season like Disney.

It’s never too early to start planning your holiday vacation

Is the “Disney Difference” Really Worth the Price Difference?

Disney’s Cruise Line is on the “wish list” for many families but quite often when they begin to look in to the possibility, they are faced with a bit of sticker shock. Yes, Disney’s cruise prices are often higher than those of other cruise line and the question most families ask is “do you think it’s really worth the difference in price?”  My answer is most definitely, yes!

Don’t get me wrong, you can have a fantastic cruise vacation on another cruise line, but when it comes to family cruises Disney stands head, shoulders and mouse ears above the rest.  Disney is proud of the little things they call the “Disney Difference” that sets them apart from the other cruise options out there.  “Disney Difference” translates loosely into “the things Disney does right.” It’s those little details that helped earn them the distinction of being named the #1 cruise experience by the Annual Readers’ Choice Awards for Condé Nast Traveler magazine.  Those little details also keep Disney Cruise Line in high demand.  With only 3 ships (as of January 26th with the addition of the Disney Dream), the supply of staterooms is relatively small for any given week.  High demand, small supply…you do the math!

So what specifically is it that makes a Disney Cruise vacation worth the higher price? Continue reading
